| EXTRATERRESTRIALS IN PREHISTORY Planets surround more than one-half of the 100 billion known stars in the galaxy. Recent observations using powerful telescopes indicate that uncounted numbers of these worlds may have water and Earth-like atmospheres. Life in the cosmos is everywhere and has been since long before we appeared on this planet. Carefully preserved legends and scholarly literature indicate that some of the beings who developed in these distant worlds advanced their scientific skills enough to leave their homelands and travel in space to our desirable small planet. The Earth, with it's luxuriant plant growth and pleasant climate has always attracted guests, some of whom spent a considerable amount of time here in the past. Memories of visitors from far away are preserved in most of the records of ancient cultures throughout the world. Often the travelers are described as Gods descending from the skies. From the North African tribes of the Zulu and Dogons we learn that the visits of these Gods are the oldest thing in their history. The ancient Order of Egyptian Ammonites and Central America's Popul Vuh tell us that their guests used the compass, knew the Earth was round, and understood the secrets of the universe. Plato says that in the beginning people on the Earth were ruled by the Gods directly, and Greek mythology portrays them as real people, complete with emotions and sexual powers. Possessing powerful weapons and traveling at immense speeds, they were involved in human affairs, but inaccessible. Native Americans
have maintained contact with sky gods since the beginning of their time. The Sioux tell of
a beautiful, pale-white, radiant person from the stars who, as is usually the case with
extraterrestrials, was a woman. She appeared to two Dakota scouts, who named her White
Buffalo Calf Woman. White Buffalo Calf Woman gave the scouts spiritual teachings,
ceremonies and important instructions about the origin of the Sioux people. The Far East offers a wealth of information. Brahmin books claim friends from the cosmos brought previously unknown fruits and grains to the Earth. The first emperors of China maintained that they were not descended from human beings on this planet; their ancestors came from the heavens above in metal dragons that spit fire. The Japanese claim that they are offspring of seven spiritual gods who were succeeded by five terrestrial spirits. Recent research and translations indicate that ancient Indian epics contain many references to the presence of the Gods and their ships that flew in the air. The Samara Sutradhara and other writings from the past include information about the vehicles, details of how to operate and repair them and accurate portrayals of the land of our world as it appears from far above. One of the greatest mysteries in the study of the evolution of mankind is the sudden appearance on the Earth's surface of Cro-Magnon peoples. For hundreds of thousands of years the human race was unchanged. Individuals retained the same physical characteristics, worked with simple stone tools and searched for food in similar ways. Suddenly Cro-Magnons appeared in widely separated areas. These intelligent, modern persons lived on the southern tip of Africa 100,000 years ago, in Australia and the Near East 60,000 years ago, and in France and Spain in the valleys of rivers leading to the Atlantic Ocean 35,000 years ago. Many scholars believe the abrupt emergence of Cro-Magnons occurred "when the sons of God came into the daughters of men, and they bore children to them," as described in the Bible in Genesis VI. Chariots were the primary means of transportation when Biblical information was assembled and interpreted. Therefore, in the Bible space vehicles are referred to as swift clouds or cloud chariots, or simply chariots. Pilots are charioteers and liftoffs are whirlwinds. Ezekiel 1:4-5 offers one of the more graphic descriptions: "As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness round about it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming bronze. And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures." Airplanes, space ships and rockets were unknown in the early 20th century when archaeologists discovered the 25,000 clay tablets in the library in Nineveh, the ancient royal capital of Sumeria. At that time scholars did not really understand the Sumerians' references to the all-powerful Gods who came to their country in ships from the heavens. Zecharia Sitchin, an expert in Sumerian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Hittite languages, as well as the history and archaeology of the ancient Near East, offers an up-to-date translation of these texts. He believes the manuscripts describe visitors from the sky who spent time in the lands between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers for hundreds of years during and after the 3rd millennium BC. They resembled humans, wore helmets, possessed weapons, and were the source of the rapid appearance of the Sumerian's sophisticated knowledge of architecture, astronomy, metallurgy, complex mathematics and advanced medical techniques. Sitchin's translation of the clay tablets tells us that the Gods who came from above supervised the construction of step pyramids with flat tops in their land, Sumeria. Similar prehistoric buildings are prevalent in Mexico, Egypt and China, all places favored by heavenly visitors. The earliest pyramids in Egypt were constructed with flat tops that were used for religious services, but before long, because of the heat, worshipers were forced indoors, and the sides were extended up to a point. All except one of more than 100 pyramids in China also have flat tops. Many of the Chinese pyramids are very large, one as tall as the Great Pyramid of Cheops. No one knows what secrets of life on our planet in the past might be inside these mysterious buildings. The Chinese maintain a close watch on the pyramids, keeping interested people away, with the admonition that the opening of the huge constructions is for the next generation. Visitors from the sky certainly went to Atlantis. The island was one of the most attractive places to live in prehistory. During the Ice Age, from 50,000 B.C to 10,000 B.C., warm winds of the Gulf Stream circled Atlantis assuring that most of the country enjoyed a pleasant climate without snow and ice. Plato tells us the god Poseidon went to Atlantis, married an Earth woman, and performed superhuman feats as he constructed a city with gigantic buildings. The Cherokee believe their forebears came from the Pleiades, settled in the idyllic land of Atlantis and moved to the American continent when the islands disintegrated. Ruth Montgomery relates that visitors from outer space, attracted by the Atlanteans' inquiring minds and inventive genius, spent time working with them and sharing information. Montgomery adds that the Atlanteans, observing the extraterrestrials' ships that sailed in the sky, managed to build their own flying vehicles. Together the Atlanteans and their guests used the quartz that was so prevalent in Atlantis to construct a giant crystal to provide a nonpolluting source of power. Extraterrestrials did not forget their friends on this planet. Edgar Cayce refers to vehicles coming to Earth during the late Atlantean period, whose occupants warned of the impending destruction of Atlantis. Even though Gods from the sky were once openly acknowledged and discussed, we will probably never know a great deal about their activities here in prehistory, but they were present and helpful. Native Americans believe representatives of the "Star Nations" will soon return to assist us in growing spiritually and coping with the coming Earth changes. We, the citizens of the Earth, should follow the example of our distant ancestors and optimistically welcome those who will once again offer help and advice.
