The people of
Atlantis, during most of the country's history lived simple lives,
close to nature. They worked only enough to meet their daily needs
so they judged each other on how highly evolved they were rather
than their accumulation of material possessions. This provided time
for loving and helping each other and for meditation and
contemplation to develop their minds. They respected nature and made
a point of maintaining harmony with the natural world.
Gradually, after
thousands of years, the focus changed and numerous Atlanteans turned
to increasing their scientific knowledge. As Edgar Cauce tells us,
they experimented with chemical forces in the earth and air, hoping
to expand their arsenal of weapons to eliminate the dangerous large
animals that were eating their children and destroying their crops.
Interest in scientific achievement advanced in Atlantis and
gradually supplanted compassionate relationships and the harmony
with nature which had characterized life for thousands of years.
The civilization followed a trend very
similar to our society today. Many people moved to the cities where
tangible objects were more readily available. They spent more and
more time focusing on facts and possessions and substituted
machinery for mental tools in a manner similar to our dependence on
calculators and computers. As they further fragmented their
awareness into the physical, they lost respect for what they could
not perceive with their five senses and all that lies beyond the
third dimensional environment. The spiritual quality of life became
unimportant to them and, rather than respecting nature's bountiful
resources, they attempted to control it as they wastefully used it
for their own purposes. In Reading 364-4 Edgar Cayce tells us that
for this reason by 10,700 B.C. large quantities of precious topsoil
were washing into the valleys and eventually into the sea.
Virtuous leaders
became isolated from the daily lives of most of the people, and
without moral guidance, these Atlanteans grew increasingly corrupt,
sensual and self-indulgent. As they separated from their Creator and
searched elsewhere for love, moral standards declined, anger, greed,
hate and envy increased, and crime was prevalent. Sexual orgies,
robbery and murder were common events. Edgar Cayce describes them as
sinful, and in the Critias Plato says : "The portion of
divinity in them became weak..., they lost their comeliness, through
being unable to bear the burden of their possessions, and grew ugly
to look upon, in the eyes of him who has the gift of sight."
Eventually a natural disaster occurred that destroyed their
civilization.
Edgar Cayce often
refers to former Atlantean souls who are incarnated on Earth. Many
of them are here at this time to atone for their errant behavior in
the past. Others wish to continue the worthy contributions they
offered to society in previous lives. In a variety of ways these
souls are working to prevent our civilization's going the way of
Atlantis.
Cayce describes two
groups of people in Atlantis. One, the Children of the Law of One
who focused on love and prayer to promote knowledge, and the other,
the Sons of Belial who worshiped pleasure, sought material
possessions and were spiritually immoral. During the end of the
civilization, the Children of the Law of One secluded themselves in
order to have the proper conditions to focus on combating the Sons
of Belial by means of prayer and meditation. It didn't work. Without
their moral guidance the population became increasingly corrupt.
Today the emphasis
is on utilizing the combined energy of as many people as possible to
raise vibrational patterns on the planet Earth. The internet
furnishes a means of making this possible. Sites such as
www.globalmeditations.com reach thousands of people all over
this world, providing information about upcoming occasions including
peace marches, prayer ceremonies, and drum circles like the group in
Canada who is working to reinstate the planet's heartbeat and basic
rhythms. These internet sites also offer viewers opportunities to
join worldwide group meditations focused on spreading love and
harmony.
Edgar Cayce's
references to earth changes generate concerns that a natural
cataclysm will also destroy our civilization. He offers some dates,
but those who foresee prospective events are often inaccurate at
forecasting an accurate time in the future. This is easily
explained. Time is an invention of our third dimensional experience
and not part of the other worlds and records which provide these
predictions. A further explanation for the inaccuracies of dates
comes from Cayce's statement that the future isn't fixed and we have
control of our own destinies. As more and more people work toward
emphasizing love and positive energy their efforts are postponing
devastating earth changes and the fate of the Atlanteans. In Reading
3569-1 Cayce urges us never to worry as long as we can pray. The
number of people who will follow his suggestions is increasing so
rapidly that I believe the human race will raise its consciousness
and gradually supplant greed, oppression, hate and violence with
love and compassion.
